12 Hours of the Canal, was my first 6 hour mountain bike ride. The Yeti ASR was dialed up and I was in the top 10. We were flossing the trail like Oral-B, but after 30 minutes my heart rate monitor refused to drop below 175-185. I dropped back and rode with a SS and Semi-Pro 12 hour rider, for the next 2 laps. 3.5 hours and stopped sweating and when its topping out at 98 degrees, thats a recipe for disaster. Struggled in to the pit, hit up some ENsure, PB Crackers, Water,Water, Water...Headed out for the 4th lap which was complete hell. Lucky for me the black bear didn't show up until the night laps started...Lesson learned and a long way to go with this endurance training.
